The First Lady of Aggieland

Last friday night, our family got to have a famous guest at our home!
The "First Lady of Aggieland" came for a visit and hung out for dinner with our family!

For those not familiar with Aggie traditions, the "First Lady of Aggieland" (or better known as Reveille), is the official mascot of Texas A&M University.

As a MECEP'er, Nick's sorta part of the ROTC program at A&M, and asked her handler that day if he would bring her over to our house (jokingly).
*The Corps of Cadets (ROTC) at A&M are in charge of the care of the mascot*
When he told Nick yes, of course he invited her and her handler over for dinner!

Some Fun Facts about the most popular dog in Aggieland and the SEC...

*Reveille was originally a mutt that was rescued by some Corps of Cadets guys in 1931
*Her name came to be "Reveille" when one morning, while reveille was being played, the mutt started barking.
*Reveille is the highest ranking member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, and she wears her rank on her collar.
*Reveille is cared for by the Corps of Cadets by a company known as "the mascot company" (E2).
*Reveille accompanies the mascot corporal everywhere, including class.
*If Reveille barks in the middle of a class, tradition says that the professor must dismiss the class immediately.
*If Reveille decided to sleep on a cadet's bed, that cadet is required to sleep on the floor.
*Reveille has her own cell phone, operated by the mascot corporal.

Reveille is not as disciplined or well behaved like everyone thinks...

She's actually sort of a "diva"...lol.
I mean...she is the most spoiled dog ever.....
Mattis didn't seem to care...he just wanted to lay all over her.

Being a native "College Stationer", I have grown up loving our beloved Aggie mascot.
In fact, Reveille XII has hung out at my mom's house with my beloved childhood dog, Lucky before!
That little ankle biter was my beloved Lucky, and of course the collie is Reveille XII.
Reveille XII passed away in May of 2013, and my childhood dog Lucky passed away in 2007 while I was deployed in Iraq.

And here I am with Reveille XIII.
She just retired this year, and her successor, Reveille IX will make her debut this year!
We enjoyed having her over, and it was such a treat to have her all to ourselves for an evening!
Thanks for making it happen Nick!
