Done Baking 38 weeks

Well, at least I feel like I'm "done", but mother nature obviously doesn't think so. Miss Dannika has not made her debut into the world yet. The days and weeks are getting so loooong. The nights are restless, and poor Nick doesn't get any sleep either cause of me. I have to pee like every 5 minutes, and I can feel her wiggling inside of me in the very lower part of my pelvis. It's totally weird. At my 37 week check up, my doctor said she was head down and let me feel her little butt at the top of my tummy. We are getting ready to move into our new home next week, and I am just hoping that she stays inside of me until the move is complete, and I can set up her nursery! I am SOO excited to finally have a house that Nick and I can call our own. We started packing up our little apartment, and it's still a little bittersweet. I mean afterall, this was OUR first home, and in the short year we've lived here, we've created a lot of memories in it. We went to Best Buy yesterday and bought a brand new stainless steel fridge and a frontloading washer/dryer set. It was 3600 bucks for all of that!!!! I am still excited though, cause it's OUR appliances. The photos from Melissa Lyn Photography came in, and they turned out GREAT. I am posting the slideshow at the end of it...be warned...it might make you cry! I can't wait till the infant photoshoot when Dannika is born.

Here is the link to our maternity shoot

Oh, and lastly...cause I want Dannika to read this when she is older...

weeks 34 and 35

Ok. I know I suck at keeping up with this thing, but the whole being pregnant thing has been sucking. I've had a pretty good pregnancy up until now. The last month is kicking my ass...heartburn, indigestion, sleepless nights, constipation (ok, I'm sure you didn't care to read that last one...). This month has also been dragging by. I swear it feels like the longest month of my life! Miss Dannika has figured out how to kick my ribs constantly and squirm around on my bladder. It makes me feel like I have to pee constantly...even though I don't have to. My mom is coming out here on July 7th. I don't know how I feel about that. Everyone keeps telling me that she'll drive me crazy...which I'm sure she will. I can only take her in small doses...sorry mom...I love ya to death still. Other than that, I have a professional maternity photo session tomorrow on San Clemente Beach with Melissa Lyn Photography. Her portraits are GORGEOUS, and I am absolutely thrilled about it! I've also already booked her for a newborn session as well. 600 BUCKS!!!! Pictures are priceless though, so I'm trying not to think about what i am spending on them. For other big news, Nick and I went into escrow last week on a condo in San Juan Capistrano. It's absolutely gorgeous. Maplewood floors, crown molding, granite countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms, bathrooms with designer tile, updated stainless steel appliances...2 car garage...It is absolutely EXACTLY what we have been looking for, for the past 5 months or so. As long as everything goes good with escrow, we should close on the 30th and be able to move in before the baby gets here...that is as long as she doesn't decide to come into the world early. So, there's my update. See...told ya nothing toooooo interesting has happened!

Sleepless Night

Up till now, I've had an abnormally excellent pregnancy. Most pregnant women would be jealous of me. I mean for one, I have experienced absolutely NO morning sickness. I have no swelling of my hands or feet. I haven't really gained much weight except for in my tummy. I still have the energy at 33 weeks pregnant to go for a run and go to the gym. I would say the worst of my pregnancy symptoms have been my uncontrollable urge to eat a ton of sweets (which made me fail my first glucose test...oops), and it's getting a little tougher to breathe cause Dannika is pushing up on my lung space now. I am extremely lucky compared to some of the other pregnant women I have talked to. I have quite frankly enjoyed being pregnant. Last night however, was the first night that I absolutely hated it and couldn't wait for it to be over. Nick and I went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant for dinner, and I chose to have the chicken and cheese quesadillas....no biggie, right? It was a pretty big dinner for me, and it made me full. I felt good afterwards. We got home, watched American Idol, and went to bed since Nick couldn't stay awake for the life of him! As soon as my head hit my pillow, I had this uncontrollable urge to throw up. It felt like all my food that I had consumed for the day was back in my chest, on its' way back up my mouth. I tossed and turned for a while and eventually got so frustrated that I just sat up. It felt better to sit up...I guess gravity was pulling my food back down into my tummy. I ended up falling asleep on the couch sitting up after puking twice (sounds attractive, huh?)...did I mention it was like 1am when I finally fell asleep?? It was the worst night of my pregnancy. I have felt like ASS all day from lack of sleep. I guess I failed to realize that since Dannika is getting bigger, she is pushing on my stomach...making less room for food....which in turn is giving me the horrible urge to throw up everything I eat if I eat a normal portion meal. Other than that, I had my second baby shower this past Sunday with all my girlfriends...Sarah, Kim, Jenni, Tillery, Taryn....and I finally got to meet Aaron's fiance Nancy! So fun. I got to hang out with them...got a ton of cute baby stuff. Big thanks to my hubby Nick for doing everything and enduring it with me!!! And lastly...we traded in the Lexus for the Mercedes Benz GLK350. A small SUV...way safe for my daughter to be, and her stroller fits in the back!!!

3rd trimester

Nick has officially recovered from the "swine flu"...aka...just a lousy viral infection. I'm at the point in my pregnancy where I'm extremely uncomfortable. I'm officially 31 weeks now, so that means i have roughly 9 more long weeks left. Mobility is difficult cause of this large bulging tummy. Everyone tells me that I look really small for how far along I am. I actually started worrying if my baby was growing! She is though :-) I failed my first glucose screening and my midwife told me that I might have gestational diabetes. I think the fact that I had a sugary green tea frappucino from Starbucks an hour before my test might have had something to do with that. I have yet to go back to go get my 3 hour blood test cause I have to fast for that one. Have you ever asked a pregnant woman to fast???? That is just absurd!! I'm not worried of gestational diabetes at all though. Health problems don't run in my family nor have I ever had any health problems growing up. I exercise daily and eat right so I'm really not worried. I've had to slow down on the running though. I just don't feel as light on my feet anymore. I've stayed true to the stairstepper and the elliptical machine! I even started lifting light weights again. The last couple weeks, I decided to participate in PT with my poolees and I managed to keep up in a beach run. I think it motivated more to see their pregnant recruiter running with them. Nick and I decided to go get another 3d/4d ultrasound yesterday. I'm 30 weeks now, so she had a little more fat on her and didn't look as creepy...lol. HOWEVER, Miss Dannika wanted to turn her back to us the whole time so the pics we got weren't all that great. We tried everything to get her to move...wiggling my tummy, drinking an apple juice, and change positions a million times. She seemed content in the position she was in and was fast asleep. We did see her yawn though...that was totally adorable. Other than that, I can't wait for these next couple weeks to fly. I'm ready to meet her and see her. My baby shower is next Sunday, and I'm totally excited to see all my girlfriends...Kim, Jenni, Tillery, and Taryn. I haven't seen them in FOREVER!! Oh yeah...I wrote a 6 this month....how many pregnant recruiters can say that????

Swine Flu

He looks good in a gown, doesn't he? hehe

I'm not one to really keep up with the news, so I wasn't exactly sure what was going on with this swine flu craze. On Monday night, Nick got home from work around 930 that evening complaining of being sick. He didn't look well when he came in, and it didn't help that I was slightly irritated that he was super late. He complained of fever, body aches, headache, diarrhea, and vomiting. Nick, being the macho super stud Marine Corps Drill Instructor that he is, made it through the entire day of work without telling anyone that he had a fever (and was around recruits all day screaming). He even vomited in private in some bushes after their PT session (physical training). I woke up on Tuesday morning at like 5 to use the bathroom (for some reason, that's when I ALWAYS get up to pee), and Nick's fever hadn't gone down at all, and he looked worse than he did the night before. I told him to get dressed so that we could go to the emergency room on base at Camp Pendleton. I immediately began wondering if he had caught the swine flu. I mean...it made sense. He had all the symptoms, and he worked down in San Diego....right next to the border of Mexico. It was reasonable to me. Of course as soon as he was seen in the ER, the doctor there was making jokes about the swine flu and laughed at the mention of the disease. So I just kept my mouth shut. After some chest x-rays, they ruled out pneumonia, and decided that he had a viral infection. They gave him bed rest and sent him on his way with some OTC drugs (mucinex, robitussin, tylenol...). I can't lie, it was nice to have him around the house for 2 days, but it sucked cause he was sick. I got off work early both days to come home and take care of him. I liked doing that. He was pretty much better yesterday, with the exception of feeling really weak, so I made him stay home an extra day so that he wouldn't spread germs to any of the other drill instructors or recruits. Needless to say, I'm glad that he didn't have the swine flu. My mom told him that he couldn't be sick cause he could get the baby sick. Luckily that didn't happen (yet). I feel just fine, so I am guessing he wasn't contagious. He's back to work today! So I guess we beat the swine flu...haha
